Floods and Snakes!

I know I know I don't update enough...get over it.

So the last few months it has rained and rained and rained. And with the rain comes floods and snakes. The park behind my house always floods when it rains a lot. And when it floods snakes come out of the park and into my backyard for rescue. Lexie, my dog, is always quick to alert us of the snakes presence. She really doesn't like them and goes berserk when they are in the yard. Is that a park? It looks like a lake! I didn't know I had a lake house.

The 1st snake of the summer was a Texas Rat Snake(non-poisonous). This is not my picture I didn't get a good one cause it was too fast, but this is what it looked like.

The 2nd snake was a Yellow-Bellied Water Snake(non-poisonous). Here it is on the side walk in the backyard. This one stayed around a long time and even crawled into the dogs bed for a while.

This was the 3rd snake and the 1st scary one. It is a Copperhead(poisonous). It didn't stay long luckily and went right through the yard.

This was the most recent one another Copperhead Yikes! It also left quickly just passing through the yard.

Hopefully that was the last one since its now getting cold maybe they'll all go into hibernation.

Cakes!

I've been asked a few times to put some pictures of the cakes I've made on here so people could see them and I'm finally doing it. The 1st one is a cake I made for Holly's Birthday. I wish I had a better picture but this is all a could find. The second picture is the train cake that I made for Carter's 2nd birthday. The third is the carnival cake I made for Carter's 3rd birthday.

The past few months...

Once again I've been terrible about updating. My only excuse is that I've just had a ton going on.
The first week of March my cousin Holly moved here to live with me from New Mexico. It has been really fun having her around! We've had a really fun time together fixing stuff up in her room. We were determined to do things by ourselves without any help from a man. We made a closet, hung shelves, hung mirrors, and much more all by ourselves. Ok, well, almost by ourselves we did have to have my dad help us on one little part, but we pretty much did everything ourselves. Now her room is looking good. Our next project as soon as we save up some money is to make a home office in the third bedroom.
April was a hard month. My dog Cara of 13 years got really sick and I had to put her to sleep. It took me several weeks to get used to her not being around. And I still really miss her. Then a few weeks after Cara died my Grandma Bobby passed away. It was really sad, but I know she is now in a better place. I'm really glad that I went to visit her in March and got to spend several days with her...it was a nice good-bye.
Then after the loss of two family members I gained two. My sister gave birth to my niece, Shannon Marie Talley, on April 3oth at 12:30pm. She was 6lbs. 6oz. 20 inches long and sooooo cute. I got to be in the delivery room, which was really cool! Everything went well and both Laura and Shannon got to go home the next day. That weekend I found out they were having dog adoptions at all the Petsmart's in Dallas, so I thought I would go look. While I was looking I found Lexie. I officially adopted Lexie this week. She is a Collie/Shepherd Mix and she is very cute, but very shy. She just enjoys hanging out on the couch. When walking on a leash she gets scared and walks between my legs. Its very funny!

So anyway its been kind of a crazy couple of months. I think God planned everything to happen in that order so that we ended on a happy note. Gaining Shannon and Lexie sure helped to dampen the sadness of losing Cara and my Grandma.

I got a Turkey!

No, I did not get a pet turkey. But, I did get a turkey, meaning I got three strikes in a row while bowling today! I was so excited, I think thats the first time I've ever done that! I bowled two of my best games ever a 120 and a 133. I know your thinking thats not that good. But, I have a 94 point handicap which give me the scores of 214 and 227. Today was the first day of a new 6 game tournament for my lifegroup. Now, after today I'm in the lead for the first time ever! I can't believe it! This is the first time I've ever even been close to the top. I hope I can keep it up for the next four games. The winner gets the lifegroup bowling pin trophy until there is a new winner, and all winners names are printed on the pin. Wish me luck.

Yes, I'm still alive!

Ok so sorry I havn't updated for a while but I'm still alive and well. I'm just not great at updating my blog. Anyways, a lot has happened since I last updated. I had a great time at Christmas at my parents house. It was fun celebrating will all my family. I got to see a few friends when I was there too which was nice. The day after christmas I headed to Cloudcroft, NM with my dad and cousins Heather and Heidi that were visiting from Colorado. We had a Farmer family reunion at my parents cabin. The four of us headed up a day early to get things ready for everyone then the rest of the family came and left at different times throughout the week. The first night we were there, there was a very windy snow storm. The next day there was quite a bit of snow on the ground. Heather and I immediatly went out to sled on the snow. It was a lot of fun. It didn't snow anymore that week but we were able to shovel snow back on the roads so that we could keep sleding. At one point we had a really great sled hill down the driveway, but the snowplower plowed over it the next morning, we weren't very happy about that. But, we built it back up and though it wasn't as good as the first one it was still fun to sled down. It was a great week with the family and we had fun celebrating New Years together. Then New Years Day I had to fly home to Dallas. Since I got back not a ton has happened. I've just gotten back into the normal routine. Though the weather has been pretty weird here it keeps going back and forth between freezing and hot. This week there was a huge ice storm that came through and I didn't have to go to work one day because of it. Now, the temp is back up and its warm and nice outside. I do have a couple things to look forward to. My cousin Holly has decidid to move to Dallas and is gonna come live with me probably in the next month or two, and I can't wait for that. In March for Spring Break I'm gonna be going to Juarez, Mexico to build a house with friends from church. Anyways I think this is long enough. I'll try to update more often. Below is some video of sledding.
